Harry Potter, 1.9, and when is 50 bucks to much?

So Harry potter was really good. REALLY good. I'm not going to talk about the plot at all, or give anything away. My single complaint was that the last "bonus" chapter, could have been omitted completely. Other than that I finished in 2 good days of reading and was "Totally Satisfied" with the experience I got. GREAT book. It fits the series nicely. Blah blah blah, I enjoyed it.

The PS3 upped its firmware to 1.9 tonight, and it added something that should have been in the box with the system. WALLPAPER! Very nice stuff. Upconverts music on CD now, which is pretty damn cool. Through firmware updates alone the PS3 has doubled it's functionality as a piece of AV equipment.

Now for something a little bit more, stupid. I got a copy for Guitar Hero - 80's on Sunday. And I must say, for 50 bucks MSRP, it's a piece of shit. Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE the other Guitar hero games, so much so that I rebought Guitar hero 2 for my 360 even after having bought it for the ps2. because it had 10 GOOD new songs, online leader boards, DLC, and other goodies. To be fair that was 80 dollars. And now I'm bitch about 50 bucks of entirely new content. I made a comment on a set of boards once, that was complaining about the pricing of the DLC for the 360, stating that the price, while I can understand how it got that high, *think itunes plus development costs* was retardedly high and not worth the cash investment. At roughtly the same $1.66 a song for the expansion pack, I don;t feel inclinded to buy it.

Even if I take the $5 bucks I put towards it at work, and take the money to Best Buy where it's $39.99, I still think $34.99 is to damn much. At least when I get Rock Band &/or Guitar Hero 3, I'm going to be getting a new Guitar, *that will I hope work on the PS3, and therefor work on the older games* and all that new stuff. New game modes, new songs, new online. Nothing new here, hell they took the same loading screens and CHANGED THE FUCKING COLORS!

This is 50 bucks where talking about... I mean even the
ferret can't steal stuff like that and not feel guilty about it. I could get God of War 2 new, for that price. I could get Odin Sphere and a burger for that price. I could get any number of FANTASTIC must own games for any of my systems for that price tag. I have to admit that there is a long way for me to go to be ok with getting this game. Do I want to buy it, HELL YES I DO. I just feel that my gaming needs could be much more easily filled somewhere else. For that same 50 bucks, I could get Shadow of the Colossus, and a used copy of Okami.



This is something that could have been easily fixed if someone would make a fucking guitar that would work on the PS3. I have use an entirely defunct system to play this game being that I own a PS3. And that adapter from Pelican, works GREAT for the first guitar hero. But as soon as you throw it into "2" mode, watch out. It sucks. I can't play the damn songs on hard with the adapter, but as soon as I throw it into the Ps2, I'm back to shredding on Expert, not very well, but I can get it done none the less. I prey that either of the new Guitars work for the new wave of games are backwards compatible. That will sway my wallet to be sure.

Goddamn, some decisions are tough.

Ok, I havent mentioned much about comics. I dont know why. Maybe its not what take up most of my time anymore. Anyway, I love the comic series "Preacher". And this guy is a spitting image of someone inside the comics. I'd would just share the news with everone else.

This just goes to prove what I was talking about the other day with teh Wii's. They will never outsell the PS2, because Sony is now giving away MONEY with their systems. Well in this case, its not the dollars, its the all mighty Pound. But still, when the kid gets money inside the box with the system its, pretty good way to spend the night.

A young man in the UK got a serious shock when the PS2 that he'd won on eBay arrived at his home in Aylsham, Norfolk. The game system -- which he'd paid £95 for -- arrived without the two games promised by the seller, but with £44,000, or about $90,378. The boy and his family turned the money over to police, who are holding it until late September under the UK's "Proceeds of Crime Act" while they investigate the case. A spokesman for eBay described the situation as "somewhat unusual."

I would like to partake in something "somewhat unusual". Especially if it means a cash monies payout. And, well, I dont know if I would turn the money in. But, mom and dad don't look over my shoulder anymore either.

Game-Boy... No More

Well it looks like the game boy name is going to go bye- bye for WIIWARE! Seriously, nintendo is going to do everything they can to *and I can't believe I'm going to make this joke* stick their Wii stuff down our throat. To be fair its a kinda good idea, cause it seems that anything that IS tired in with the Wii is selling like mad. But come-on EVERYONE knows what a Game Boy is. Hell, my parents bought me a PSP over the Holidays, and they called it a Game Boy. It's like changing the name of Nintendo, to, The Wii Company.

So, this the the one thing in the world I want more than Oxygen. Fallout 3. It could be the worst game ever, and as long as its by Bethseda, who made Oblivion, and Morrowind , blah blah blah. I am going to buy this game on my PS3. Only because I know there is NO online what so ever, and well, I like the PS3 controller better anyway. Now if only I could get my head to do that at work when I want to call in sick.

500! No, 600! No! 500! No....

So you see this big thing. Well besides being on the bottom of the ocean, they are also a goddamn pain in the ass. Let describe the utter lack of faith I have in Sony.

They have decided that over the E3 week, that they were dropping the price on the PS3, to 500 bucks. Hey nifty, makes me feel like a tool for having bought one at 600, but whatever. So they get good press, people buy some systems, and they also amongst all of this announce that they are going to to bring out an 80GB model for the older price of 599, but they were going to give you a free copy of motorstorm. Great I have that game in my collection.

So what could be bad about this? Well theres the issue of getting a game you can find used for 40 bucks, and 20GB more worth of HDD space for 100 dollars, but still its an option and the system still went down to 500.

Now there's a big shit deal about the 60GB *older* system , being discontinued entirely. Oh and then when they are all out of 60GB systems, its going to be, get the 80GB system at 599 of fuck off. Well to me, and to the people who I talk to who are not video gamers, thats not a price drop, thats a clearance. So as much as I love my PS3; Sony.... go to hell. You're a bunch of lying bastards. A price cut, means the regular price for whatever, is going down. I already own one, and paid the thing off, so I don't really give a rip. But to be fair, thats not a price drop, and the only thing Sony did was look like a bunch of fools. People wanted a price cut, because we are unwilling to spend 600 for a system that has SHIT FOR GAMES.....

Ok, so some toon left his kids in the car while shopping for porn at the local Fry's electronics. Well I dont know that it WAS porn, but it makes it more interesting. I mean, I did work there for a year, and easily recognize the parking lot. And there is only one store in Wilsonville, everything else was built around it. Yes, I'm talking to you Hollywood video.

Also the fact that they are looking at the security tape is fantastic, because they told us time and time again when I worked there that if someone fucked with our car while we were at work, that they couldn't do anything. I do feel sorry for the kids though. Fry's is a cool place and offers SOME AC.... when you go walking by the displays of AC.

My Advise to the guy for next time, put the little bastard back in the components department, and have them rearrange, in their own child like manner, the resistors. That will keep up entertained.

I pre-order Harry Potter. God help us all. But at least I won't be waiting out at the book store over night like some people. It will be delivered to my home.

And the most recent movie was pretty snazzy too. Nothing like dressing up like a nerd and going a seeing a movie with a bunch of giggeling idiots.

Well thanks for playing the game everyone, Nintendo has something to really brag about for the first time in 10 years, and they think they are the greatest of all time. Maybe not so much. To be fair the PS2 had mass appeal and a fantastic price point. One thing I think the Wii has to deal with that the PS2 never did, is as this, competition. In the gaming experience as a whole, the PS2 had very little competition, the Xbox and Gamecube were lacking in many ways, and the PS2 also pushed DVD into alot of home.

But thats not the point of this story, the point of all this is that fact that the NINTENDO president thinks that NINTENDO is doing great. And they are. Goody.

On an entirely different note, I love my PSP. And this brings me to a qwuick rant about Sony. First of like I said earlier, I love, LOVE, gaming. And I am not a fan boy. There, now that THAT is out of the way. I'm thinking I need to stab someone in Sony land. first off they are bringing out new controllers for the ps3, that are going to have rumble *yea!..... I think*, but now the two that I bought, don't mean anything. I'm glad I get a discount at work. And the other thing is I love my PSP, and the death of Dark Alex, and his OE firmware is going to suck. I do more emulators, and everything else on that system than acutal PSP games. I own ... 2 ! PSP games. Metal Gear, and Hot shots golf. Oh and if you have a good idea as to where I can import a copy of Minna No Golf 5 from. Let me know.

I have this affinity for video games. Oh, breaking news. A 20 something guy who works in a video game store, and grew up with a pulse who likes video games. Did I mention, I like comic books too. What? Shovel's are in the back? Ok I'll go dig my own grave.
